Unlocking the Secret

I often use analogies to grapple with writing. Writing as a lover, as a wall or barrier, writing as food. Sometimes it does feel like a hunger, an emptiness that must be filled. But I don’t always have a key that fits. One day music helps, another demands silence. Sometimes I stare at the page, expecting blood to drip onto the page, other times I toy with frivolous activities that couldn’t be further from it. Anything to find it, to reach that magical state of mind where words flow and stories unfold. It’s so daunting, to face that blank page, knowing anything is possible, but no guide-wires or sign posts offer any clue as to where to go.
