A Letter to My Future Self

January 11, 2011

Apologies if I seem a little lack luster. I may still have a cold, or at least I definitely have a cough and a weak voice. With any luck you’re reading this in the first peal of summer, free from CCSU, done with your masters, and it’s debatable value. Is the Museum of Motion nothing more than another visual dot on your DVD, or did it bear fruit? I hope Mrs. Moore’s project is complete. If CCSU and Mrs. Moore were both done we would be free to return to Tucker and Caryn and Tamberlain’s Ring.
Read anything new lately? You really should. How’s the dating scene? Is there someone? Does her name begin with an R? Have you escaped FYF? How’s AG3? I don’t expect you to be “out” yet, but please tell me you’re close. Hopefully there have been a few moments in the past few months when your blood quickened and you felt “awake”.
I look forward to hearing about it all. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.

What do you think about while you drive

What you think about while you drive

A lot of times I’m either worrying about being late, or savoring the fact that I don’t need to worry about that.

There’s always a lot to do, and the only way to get it all done is by cutting it too close.

But when I’m not in a hurry I savor it. I like watching the changing planes; watch how objects that are far away slowly weave across, while t...

Comfortable Space

Places that are yours

My room is definitely mine, but it feels noisy, so many images and icons, mementos of my past and treasures to escape through.

Harkness is mine, I’ve spent so much time there I can’t help feeling possessive.

The basement is mine, basements often are. no one else wants the basement, no one contests it. I can be alone down there.

Don’t get me wrong...

Busy Doing Nothing

Busy Doing Nothing

Just saying the phrase makes me grin like a fool. In a world of productivity and capitalist industry, busy doing nothing? Are you sleeping, healing, or perhaps unwell? No, nothing like that.

Just slow down, take a deep breath, and be. Move if you want to, stand or sit. Let your mind and your body wander their separate ways. My hands always like to make the oddest of shapes,...

Holiday Decorations

Yes, you can’t escape it, Christmas time is here, on the radio, on the walls and in the windows, lights and baubles and wooden figurines line every one, as songs we all know by heart come out of the radio, and the T.V.

“Christmas is here” they say, and maybe it is there, but it’s not here, or if it is, it’s not the same. Right now what I feel is certainly pleasure at...

_

There is so much to do. Tasks and obligations breed like maggots. Things take too long, things take time or quality suffers, and quality must suffer, for I have so little time…

or perhaps I work too slowly.

Some people see a problem and assume the world is wrong, while others turn inward.

I struggle to serve the masters I must without forgetting what I want, what I’m about.

Sometimes I ...
